【摘要】:Workersinvolvedintheproduction,use,andtransportationofliquidandgaseouschemicalscanbeexposedtonumerouscompoundscapableofcausingharmuponcontactwiththehumanbody.Thedeleteriouseffectsofthesechemicalscanrangefromacutetraumasuchasskinirritationandburntochronicdegenerativediseasesuchascancer.Sinceengineeringcontrolsmaynoteliminateallpossibleexposures,attentionisoftenplacedonreducingthepotentialfordirectskincontactthroughtheuseofprotectiveclothingthatresistspermeation,penetration,anddegradation.Thistestmethodisonlyappropriateforevaluatingtheintegrityoftotallyencapsulatingprotectivesuits,thataredesignedandmanufacturedtopreventtheinwardleakageofgasesandvapors.ThevaporprotectionshouldbetestedinaccordancewithTestMethodF2588.GarmentsdesignedtoprotectfromliquidchemicalsshouldbetestedinaccordancewithTestMethodF1359.Thisnon-destructivetestmethodisusefulasaqualitycontroltoolformanufacturesandasafieldmethodforenduserstodeterminechangesingarmentintegrityfollowinguse.Thistestmethodisusefultoendusersfordeterminingtheintegrityofvaporprotectivesuitsuponreceiptfromthemanufacturer,priortouse,followinguseanddecontamination,followingrepairs,andasaperiodicmaintenancetest.1.1Thistestmethodmeasurestheabilityofavaporprotectivesuits,includingseams,andclosurestomaintainafixed,positivepressure.1.2Thistestmethoddoesnotmeasurevaporprotectionofsuits.Thistestmethodmeasurestheintegrityofthesuit,glove,footprotection,andvisormaterials,aswellastheseams,andclosuresofavaporprotectivesuit.Exhaustvalvesfittedinthevaporprotectivesuitmustbesealedorblockedforthistestandthereforearenotfunctionallytested.1.3Thevaluesasstatedinin.-H2O(mm-H2O)unitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatements,seeSection7.
